The representatives of Water Pollution (PA4) and Environmental Risks (PA5) priority areas from the Hungarian co-coordination were invited by Danube Transnational Programme (DTP) Joint Secretriat to support their Thematic event on Water management – flood prevention and environmental risk, Natural and cultural heritage, Energy on 14th December 2018 in Prague.
During the morning session the participants received a very detailed presentation about the experience of the previous calls, highlighting the tipical mistakes in project proposals.
The second part of the meeting was about the Specific Objectives, and their connection to the Danube Region Strategy.
Specific Objective 2.1 covers the issues with flood prevention and water quality. Ádám Kovács from ICPDR and Diána Heilmann from PA4 focused on flood managment plans and the importance of prevention measures of floods.
Specific Objective 2.4 is mainly about preparedness and response to certain environmental risks. Károly Gombás and Kinga Perge presented topics which would fit in to the renewed Action Plan of PA5 and also suits the Specific Objective 2.4. Large scale emergencies are more and more common in the Danube Region, where the EU Civil Protection Mechanism provides with regulations and implementing rules in order to respond effectively at international level.
The event was ended with an informal discussion with potential partners of different projects which could fit into the DTP 3rd Call and supports the implementation of EUSDR and the ICPDR prepared Danube River Basin Management and Flood Risk Management Plans.
EUSDR representatives encouraged the project owners to request a Letter of Recommendation from the Steering Groups of the Priority Areas to secure a better alignment with EUSDR aims and objectives and to demonstrate more effectively the strategic importance of their initiative.
